This year, we're sad to finally put the Easter baskets away for two very specific reasons:
1. We can't use one of our favorite and most effective phrases anymore, "If you don't stop that, I'm going to call the Easter bunny!" (Is it too early to start threatening with Santa Claus??)
2. No more in house Easter egg hunt drills (which have kept the boys busy and content for an entire month!) Who knew they would NEVER grow tired of it!!
The silver lining in all of this, you ask? The Easter Detox Program, which starts tomorrow!
You see, jelly beans, chocolate, bubble gum, suckers, etc. do strange things to 1 and 4 year old little boys. When given too much (not because we have allowed it, but because they have learned to hide candy and bring it out as needed when they have withdrawal symptoms...which seems like every 5 minutes) they begin climbing the walls, bouncing on couches, making loud screeching noises, talking in strange voices and they don't take any breathes in between what seems like endless hours of talking, talking, talking, singing, more talking!
As you can see, they're not taking this Detox thing real well...this is the first phase...the sugar crash...
Not to worry though, it looks much worse than it really is! Most kids usually fully recover from this. The only side effects include acting out, fits, back talking, crying for candy, etc. But again, we have it under control. We have an area specifically designed for "time out" where it follows with a brief counseling session. We'll keep you updated on their progress.
I don't want to leave you with such an alarming image, so let me close with some happier times from the weekend...coloring Easter eggs (and hands) and egg hunting! Enjoy!
Love the sweatshirt, Steven!!!!
