I wanted to give everyone an update on our upcoming trip to Guatemala...
We cannot say thank you enough for the outpouring of support, donations, funds, shoes, clothing, school supplies, bedding, prayers, etc. that we have received for this trip! Wow! I tear up every time I think about the huge pile of donations that continues to build in our home. What an amazing amount of generosity you all have shown...we can't say thank you enough, and the Guatemala families that will benefit from these donations I have no doubt, will forever be changed. God is so good and he is working through you...our precious friends and family!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
When I think about each of you, the verse in Philippians 1:3-4 comes to my mind...
"I thank my God every time I
remember you, always praying joyfully
in every one of my prayers for all of you." We are so blessed to have each of you in our lives! Please continue to pray about this trip, for our safe travels, that we will do God's will while we are there and that the families we are around will be open to God's word.
Now the update...
Lori, our friend that has organized the trip, has recently received specific information on the family that we will be building a home for...
The mother, Blanca, is a 45-year-old widow. Her husband recently passed away
after suffering from a long illness. She has four younger children still living at home, in addition to older children now living on their own. The family is currently staying with
one of the older sons, but this is only a temporary fix.
The children had to stop studying halfway through the last school year and are
in need of sponsors so that they can return to school. (I will check on the
costs for school sponsorship. Feel free to email me if you are interested in
sponsoring one of the children.)
Please pray for this family -- the mother Blanca, and children Sandra Jannet
(13), Jeimy Emiliana (10), Paulina Fernanda (7), and Ariel Marcelino (5).
The children wear western clothing (similar to what we wear), so I am
hoping that we can collect clothes and shoes to bring for them. For girls
clothing we will need sizes 8, 12, and 14 and the little boy is a size 6.
They have been through so much --
losing their father, having to stop going to school, and being without a home.
We pray that God will use us to show them how much He loves them. When I look
at this sweet family I think about Jeremiah 29:11 -- "For I know the plans
I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future."
Here is a recent picture of the family...
As far as what we still need for the trip...
1. Clothing in the above mentioned sizes, specifically for this family.
2. Sponsorships for their schooling
3. Kitchen utensils and supplies for their new home that we'll be building
4. Lots of prayer!
Please feel free to call or email us if you have questions about our trip...we would love to hear from you!!
Now on to our little guys...who are mess...all the time...and so much fun!!!
Kellen...playing dress-up!
